The Catholic Heads of Churches in Syria held a meeting hosted by the Greek Melkite Patriarchate in Bab Sharqi, Damascus and presided over by His Beatitude Gregorius III Lahham, Greek Melkite Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Alexandria and Jerusalem.

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II was invited to participate in the meeting. He was accompanied by His Eminence Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant, and Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
His Beatitude and the Bishops shared with His Holiness their concerns about the current situation in Syria, especially the problem of emigration of Christians from their home towns and cities.

His Holiness expressed the need to be united as Christians against the attacks that take place. He also emphasized the importance of joining the efforts of all churches in Damascus in the relief of the Syrian people in order to serve them in a more efficient way.
