After his appointment in Syria, His Excellency Shri. Man Mohan Bhanot, Ambassador of India in Damascus, paid his first visit to Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Excellency and the accompanying delegation at the Patriarchate Headquarters in Bab Touma, Damascus.
His Excellency expressed his joy to visit the See of Antioch because of its importance for the Christians of Kerala in India.
His Holiness welcomed his guest and spoke about the historical relations between the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch and India, which goes back to the early centuries of Christianity.
Their Eminences Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, were also present during the meeting.
