His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Excellency Mr. Juan Criado Clemente, Charge d’Affaires of the Spanish Embassy in Damascus at the Patriarchate in Bab Touma – Damascus.
His Holiness gave a historical overview of the Syriac Orthodox Church and discussed the current situation in Syria with His Excellency. He also spoke about the difficult conditions from which the Syrian people are suffering, especially Christians.
His Excellency Mr. Clemete emphasized the position of Spain to support Syria in supplying humanitarian aid, especially that Spain is the promoter of the humanitarian issues at the UN and supervises the implementation of resolutions regarding humanitarian issues.
The meeting was attended by His Eminence Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant, His Grace Mor Maurice Amsih, Director of Public Relations and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
