His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Peter Church in Belo Horizonte – Brazil.
He was assisted by their Eminences Mor Titus Boulos Touza, Syriac Orthodox Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, and Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the immigrants who arrived in Brazil at the turn of the twentieth century and helped greatly in the foundation of the country’s modern society. These are the grandparents and parents of the faithful who are present in the Church. His Holiness described their strong faith and how they established churches, clubs and associations to preserve their eastern patrimony and traditions.
His Holiness also spoke about the consecration of the church and its renewal. He pointed out that the Church is founded on the strong Petrine faith and the preservation of this faith will shield her and protect her from the attacks that aim at its destruction.
