For the first time since his installation as Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the rite of the consecration of the Oil of Baptism and the Oil for the Ointment of the Sick on Maundy Thursday during the Holy Qurobo at St. George Patriarchal Cathedral in Bab Touma.
His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus assisted His Holiness in the Holy Qurobo.

In his speech, His Holiness spoke about the Last Supper that the Lord Jesus Christ celebrated with His disciples, giving them His body and blood in communion. He also reminded the faithful of the greatness of the Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross.

He hoped that the consecration of the oils of baptism and the ointment of the sick will be a blessing for all those who participated in the prayers.
