Inauguration of the Romanian Arabic Library at the Middle East University

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurated the Romanian Arabic Library at the Middle East University in Sabtieh – Mount Lebanon.
This project was implemented through the efforts of Professor Alexandru Peterliceano from this PROEMA Institute for cultural promotion.
The event was attended by His Excellency Mr. Victor Mircea, Ambassador of Romania in Lebanon, and their Eminences Mor Theophilus George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh, Metropolitan of Beirut, Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh as well as Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Very Rev. Raban Roger-Youssef Akhrass, Director of the Syriac Studies Department.
The newly inaugurated library includes many volumes of books translated from Arabic to Romanian or bilingual. The selection of translations includes the “Scattered Pearls” authored by Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem I Barsoum of blessed memory.
In his inaugural speech, His Holiness spoke about the role of culture and education in eliminating the clash of civilizations and building bridges of friendships and human relations between peoples. He thanked the efforts of the PROMEA Institute to bring closer the heritage of the East to the West.
Following the inauguration, His Holiness signed the Romanian translation of the “Scattered Pearls”.
