Visit to Ghigiu Monastery in Romania

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited Ghigiu Monastery in Romania. He was received by the abbess of the monastery. He was accompanied by their Eminences: Mor Theophilus Georges Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Dionysius Issa Gurbuz, Patriarchal Vicar in Switzerland and Austria, Mor Selwanus Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, as well as several clergy and faithful. His Holiness first visited the monastery’s church and raised the prayer blessing the monastery and all nuns living in it. He then made a tour in the monastery where he and the accompanying delegation were introduced to the history of the monastery, especially the icon of Virgin Mary, Mother of God, which dates back to the sixteenth century and was brought to the monastery from Bhamdoun in 1958.
