His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II attended a meeting organized by “Bread for the World” institution at the Evangelical Agency for Diakonie and Development in Germany.
The meeting was also attended by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and Catholicose Mor Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicose of the Indian Orthodox Church, as well as representatives of other oriental churches. His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis, Patriarchal Vicar in Germany, and Mor Julius Hanna Aydin Director of Foreign Affairs in the Diocese of Germany, as well as Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
During the meeting, Dr. Cornelia Fullkrug-Weitzel, president of the Bread for the World institution, welcomed their Holinesses. She then gave an overview about the Protestant Agency for Diakonie and Development. A presentation about the international programs of Bread for the World institution, which is part of diakonia of the Evangelical church in Germany, was also given.
Attendees then listened to their Holinesses, and showed interest in learning about the situation of Christians in the Middle East.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II gave an overview of the situation of Christians in Syria and the relief and development projects implemented at our Patriarchate as well as the Christian refugees throughout Europe.
