His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met Her Excellency Honorable Kerry Sanderson, Governor of Western Australia, at the Governor’s House in Perth.
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences, Mor Malatius Malki Malki, Patriarchal Vicar in Australia & New Zealand, and Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Metropolitan of Mosul, Kurdistan and their Environs, as well as Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Dr. Theodore Issa representing Mor Aphrem Church in Perth.
His Holiness and Her Excellency discussed the current situation of Christians in the Middle East, especially in Syria and Iraq. Her Excellency welcomed His Holiness and spoke of the importance of supporting Christians in the Middle East to remain in the homeland which is the cradle of Christianity.
