Visit to the Governor of Parana

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met the Governor of Parana Mr. Beto Richa, at the Governorate Palace in Curitiba.
He was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Titus Boulos Touza, Syriac Orthodox Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, Very Rev. Fr. Paulo Milton, and Rev. Fr. Gesse as well as some clergy from Curitiba.
His Holiness spoke about the current situation in Syria and the persecution of Christians in some countries of the Middle East. He said that there is still hope that Christians can remain in their homeland, provided they are not encouraged to emigrate out of their homeland.
He thanked the administration in the State of Parana for helping the Syrian refugees.
In turn, Governor Richa expressed his joy and honor to receive His Holiness. He promised to offer what he can to help the Syrian refugees in their official documents and for their residency in the State of Parana.
At the end of the meeting with the Governor, a press conference was held where His Holiness explained the reasons of his visit to Mr. Richa as well as the results of the meeting.
