His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Excellency Mr. Achilles Zaluar, Ambassador of Brazil to Damascus, at the Patriarchate in Bab Touma, Damascus.
His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, His Grace Mor Maurice Amsih, Patriarchal Delegate in the Archdiocese of Al-Jazeerah and Euphrates, and the monks of the Patriarchate were also present at the meeting.
His Holiness welcomed His Excellency and thanked him for the arrangements he made to make the apostolic visit of His Holiness to Brazil a successful one.
His Excellency expressed his joy at the news of the impact of the apostolic visit to Brazil in the Brazilian society and its importance to strengthen the relationships between the Syriac Orthodox Church and Brazil. He also talked about the positive role His Holiness had in conveying the true picture of what is happening in Syria to the Brazilian Media.
His Holiness and His Excellency discussed the recent developments in Syria and the need for a peaceful resolution to end the conflict in Syria.
