Feast of Mor Yacoub Baradeus, Empress Theodora and Bar Hebraeus

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo on the occasion of the Feast of St. Jacob Baradeus, the Empress Theodora and Bar Hebraeus, at St. George Patriarchal Cathedral in Bab Touma, Damascus.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the virtues of these saints as well as their role in preserving the orthodox faith. He also spoke about St. Jacob’s fight against the heretics and his stands against persecutions that were raised against the clergy and faithful of the church. He also mentioned the role of Empress Theodora in protecting the defenders of the Orthodox faith. His Holiness spoke about Bar Hebraeus pioneer role in leading the Syriac revival at the 13th century.
His Holiness was assisted by their Eminences Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus and Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Jazeerah and Euphrates.
