His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II attended the inauguration session of the International Consultation on Christian Persecution Conference in Budapest.
The ceremony was also attended by His Beatitude Syriac Catholic Patriarch Joseph III Younan as well as many Religious leaders and political figures.
Several speeches were delivered in the opening.
In his word, His Holiness spoke about persecution which led to a serious crisis in the Middle East, namely: expulsion of Christians. He then talked about the role of Hungary in supporting relief projects. His Holiness added that there is a real need for awareness and advocacy in the West. He then spoke about the invasion of terrorism in Europe just after Middle East.
