Declaration of the Beatification of Syriac Catholic Martyr Mor Flabianos Mikhael Melki

On the occasion of the declaration of the beatification of Martyr Mor Flabianos Mikhael Melki, Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Jazeerat Ibn Omar who was martyred in 1915 during the Syriac Genocide Sayfo, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II delegated His Grace Bishop Mor Maurice Amsih, Director of Public Relations and Protocol, to represent him at the Divine Liturgy presided over by His Beatitude Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan, Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, at the Lady of Delivrance in Sharfeh – Lebanon. Their Eminences Mor Theophilus George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun, Director of the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs, and Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, also participated in this celebration on August 29, 2015. The Divine Liturgy was also attended by His Holiness Catholicose Aram I, Catholicose of the Great House of Cilicia for the Armenian Orthodox Church, Their Beatitudes: Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Gregorius III Lahham, Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Alexandria, and Jerusalem, and retired Syriac Catholic Patriarch Boutros Abdelahad as well as the fathers of the Holy Synod of the Syriac Catholic Church.

A new icon as well as a monument of the Blessed Martyr were unveiled.

His Grace Bishop Maurice read the Patriarchal Letter sent on this occasion.
