His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at the Lady of Lights Church in Ankawa. He was assisted by their Eminences Mor Theophilus Georges Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, and Mor Timotheos Moussa Al-Shamani, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mor Matta Monastery. Their Eminences Mor Gregorius Saliba Shemoun, Patriarchal Counselor, and Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Metropolitan of Mosul, Kurdistan and Environs also attended the Holy Qurobo.
His Eminence Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf welcomed His Holiness and the accompanying delegation and spoke about the importance of His Holiness visit to Erbil to be among his people and also to represent the Syriac Orthodox Church in the enthronement of His Holiness the Assyrian Patriarch Mar Gewargis III Slewa. It is a sign of solidarity between the two churches.
In his sermon, His Holiness encouraged the people to hold firm to their faith and saluted their resolution to survive the persecutions and expulsion that they underwent. He assured them that through prayers and strong faith, Christians are able to overcome the tribulations of this world.
