Under the auspices of His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the 4th Annual Suryoyto Women Day was held at Mor Aphrem Center in New Jersey.
Their Eminences Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant and Patriarchal Delegate in the Archdiocese of Eastern USA, and Mor Dioscoros Benjamin Atas, Patriarchal Vicar in Sweden, also participated in this event as well as Mor Cassianus Lewis.
The theme of this year’s gathering was: Commemorating Sayfo: Suryoyto Women’s Contribution to our Survival. The key speaker was Dr. Naures Atto.
His Holiness spoke about the role of women during the Syriac Genocide Sayfo. He mentioned the sacrifices and self-giving of Syriac women during these difficult times, where many women lost their husbands and children, but they kept their faith and defended their honor.
