Consecration of Beth Suryoye – Salzburg 

 

IMG_5072His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurated the new Syriac Theological Seminary in Salzburg (Beth Suryoye). His Excellency Archbishop of Salzburg Mgr. Dr. Franz Lackner also participated in the inauguration ceremony and the prayer of the blessing of the house.

His Excellency presented to His Holiness a key of the Seminary, symbolically presenting the Beth Suryoye to the Syriac Orthodox Church. The key was specially made for the occasion; it was made of bread and salt, symbolizing the common participation and fellowship between the Catholic Church in Salzburg and the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate.

His Holiness thanked the Archbishop of Salzburg and hoped that Beth Suryoye will be a place where students of Syriac Theology will find the spirituality and knowledge they seek.

Their Eminences: Mor Dionysius Issa Gurbuz, Patriarchal Vicar in Switzerland and Austria, Mor Philoxenus Saliba Ozmen, Archbishop of Mardin and Diyarbakir and Environs, Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis, Patriarchal Vicar in Germany, Mor Julius Hanna Aydin, Director of External Relations in Germany, Mor Polycarpus Augin Aydin, Patriarchal Vicar in the Netherlands, His Grace Mor Georges Kourieh, Dean of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director were rpesent at the inauguration.
