The Syriac Orthodox clergy of the Archdiocese of Eastern USA gathered at Mor Aphrem Center in Paramus, New Jersey to participate in a series of lectures and spiritual activities from 26 to 30 October as part of their Spiritual Retreat.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II opened the retreat with a prayer giving thanks to the Lord who blesses his flock with clergy who serve in diligence and in the fear of God. In his opening speech, he reminded the priests about the importance to be role models for the faithful and to be always mindful of how good they represent the Lord and live according to His commandments.
The clergy retreat included lectures delivered by guest lecturer Rev. Dr. Christopher Michael Jones, Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Very Rev. Fr. Gabriel Adde, Very Rev. Fr. Edward Hanna, and Very Rev. Raban Fr. Saliba Kassis.
His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presided over the Holy Qurobo celebrated by Rev. Fr. Alan Shaltan at Mor Aphrem Church in Mor Aphrem Center in Paramus, New Jersey in conclusion of the retreat.
