The Global Christian Forum (GCF) organized a global consultation on “Discrimination, Persecution, Martyrdom: Following Christ Together”, from 1 to 5 November 2015.
Due to the recent attacks of terrorist groups on the Syriac Christian town of Sadad, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II traveled back to Syria and his participation in this consultation was interrupted.
His Holiness delegated His Eminence Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant, to represent him and deliver his message in the panel entitled “Walking Together as Suffering Church”.
In his message, His Holiness reminded the international community and especially the Churches in the West of the importance to help Christians remain in their homeland in the Middle East. He focused on the need to have support from Christians worldwide to advocate our cause to the international fora. He also called upon all those who desire to help to offer their assistance through the local churches which know better the needs of the people in Syria and Iraq, and distribute it without discrimination or bias.
His Eminence Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, Lebanon, also participated as member of the Council of the Forum.
