At the end of his first apostolic visit to Saydnaya, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Mary Church. He was assisted by their Eminences: Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs, and His Grace Mor Georges Kourieh, Dean of St. Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about preparing ourselves to receive the Lord Christ, like Zachariah and the faithful people of the Old Testament who awaited the advent of the Savior Messiah.
He also spoke about the virtue of patience and how the Lord rewards those who wait in hope and faith. He greeted the people of Saydnaya for their courage and prayed for the repose of the souls of the martyrs who fought against those who attack the town and seek its destruction.
After the Holy Qurobo, His Holiness blessed the faithful at the reception held in honor of this historical visit.
