As part of the cooperation between St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee (EPDC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), a new workshop for making counterpanes and bedspreads was opened in Jaramana, Damascus – Syria.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurated this workshop which provides jobs for 65 people, including 40 who will supply the workshop with wool items.
At the inauguration, His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant and Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary.
His Holiness took a tour in the workshop and was introduced to the workers. He also listened to an explanation on the different stages of preparing the wool and the counterpanes.
In an interview with the Syrian TV Channel, His Holiness mentioned the importance of having such workshops to help the Syrian citizens to find jobs and to give them hope that they can still go through the crisis, and be productive and useful to their society.
