On his first apostolic visit to Saydnaya, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II was received by the faithful of the town headed by Rev. Fr. Rami Maamar, the Head of the Municipality, the town’s Sheikh and many officials from political parties as well as the dignitaries of Saydnaya and its people.
From the town’s square, His Holiness walked through the town and blessed the crowds who gathered to welcome him.
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Archbishops Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs, and His Grace Mor Georges Kourieh, Dean of St. Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, as well as the monks and seminarians of the seminary.
At St. Mary Church, His Holiness attended a special recital of Christian hymns and chants with the participation of three choirs from different parishes in Saydnaya.
