By the invitation of the Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Mr. Riad Haddad, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited the Syrian Embassy in Russia and met with His Excellency the Ambassador.
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Severius Hawa, Archbishop of Baghdad and Basra, Mor Philoxenus Yusuf Cetin, Patriarchal Vicar in Istanbul and Ankara, Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Assistant, Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kurdistan and Environs, Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Very Rev. Raban Roger-Youssef Akhrass, Director of Syriac Studies. From the Russian Orthodox Church, Rev. Fr. Stephan and Mr. Sergey Alferov were also present during the visit.
His Excellency Mr. Riad Haddad welcomed His Holiness and wished him a successful and fruitful visit.
His Holiness expressed his joy at this visit and will thank His Holiness Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kyrill I, the country of Russia and the Russian citizens for supporting Syria during its crisis.
