His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Lattaqia.
The Holy Qurobo was attended by the Governor of Lattaqia Mr. Ibrahim Al-Salem, the Secretary of the Baath Party in Lattaqia Dr. Mohammad Shrayteh, and other dignitaries as well as a large number from the Syriac Orthodox Community in Lattaqia.
In his sermon, His Holiness expressed his joy to see the faithful gathered and working together to build their church and community. He spoke about the revelation of God to Joseph to take the Virgin Mary to his house, stressing the importance to obey God’s commands and seek His inspiration.
His Holiness was assisted in the Holy Qurobo by their Eminences Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary, and His Grace Bishop Mor Georges Kourieh, Dean of St. Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya. His Eminence Mor Theophilus Georges Saliba attended the Holy Qurobo.
