His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received the newly released Christians of Al-Qaryaten who were liberated from their kidnappers only yesterday.
The families of the abducted people gathered at the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate in Bab Touma, Damascus to be reunited to their beloved ones after about 6 months of their abduction.
His Holiness and all those who were present prayed and thanked the Lord for their safe return in good health. He also prayed for the release of the abducted Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji.
His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary, and their Graces Mor Maurice Amsih, Director of Public Relations, and Mor George Kourieh, Dean of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya were also present.
