During his visit to Qamishly, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II called for a meeting with the priests and church councils of the Archdiocese of Al-Jazeerah and Euphrates at the hall of St. Jacob of Nisibin Church to discuss important issues concerning the situation of our churches in Al-Hassakeh Governorate.
His Holiness started the meeting with a prayer asking the Lord to give wisdom to all in order to better serve the people and fulfill their needs.
He also prayed for the repose of Late Lamented Mor Athanasius Aphrem Barsoum and Late Fr. Yacoub Farjo.
Then, His Holiness discussed matters of importance related to the current situation of Christians in Hassakeh and ways to protect them. He listened to the opinions and views of the priests and church councils members. He asked all to encourage the faithful to remain in their lands as they are attached to it. He also discussed the humanitarian needs of the people affected by the attacks in the Archdiocese.
His Holiness gave his fatherly instructions to the priests and members of the councils and directed them to play the role they should as Christians. He reminded them that our Christian message is one of mercy and love as well as charity and compassion.
