The Forum for Development, Culture and Dialogue (FDCD), Permanent Peace Movement and Iraqi Al-Amal Association organized an Assembly on “Diversity Management and Peace Building.
In the inauguration session, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II participated by giving a speech on religious diversity and living together. He spoke about the role of religions in peace building and incited the youth to be creative and work together in executing different projects, participating in workshops and having commonly ministered social services.
Her Excellency Mrs. Michele Cameroun, Ambassador of Canada in Lebanon, also participated in the opening session. She spoke about religious tolerance and its importance for the international community.
The representative of His Excellency Grand Mufti of Lebanon Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian, Sheikh Mohammad Bou Zayd, spoke on behalf of the Grand Mufti and called all citizens to endorse a more tolerant and loving attitude towards the others who differ in their religious beliefs.
His Holiness also attended the first session which included presentations of different new projects and initiatives.
Their Eminences Mor Philoxenus Matta Chamoun, Mor Theophilus George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Chamoun, Patriarchal Vicar at the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, were also present.
