On the occasion of the Great Lent according to the Catholic Churches, the Greek Catholic Melkite Patriarchate called for a common prayer to beseech the mercy of God and for peace in Syria. The celebrational prayer took place at the Lady of Dormition Patriarchal Cathedral at Haret El-Zaytoun in Damascus.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II delegated His Grace Bishop Mor Maurice Amsih, Director of Public Relations and Protocol, to represent the Syriac Orthodox Church at this Prayer Service.
His Excellency Mgr. Mario Zenari, Apostolic Nuncio in Damascus, and His Excellency Mgr. Stanilas, President of the Council of Bishops of Poland and representatives of the Christian Church in Damascus also participated in this Common Prayer Service.
