Holy Qurobo – Wedding of Cana

On the occasion of the beginning of the Great Lent, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Georges Patriarchal Cathedral in Bab Touma, Damascus.
His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, assisted His Holiness during the Holy Qurobo.
The Patriarchal Encyclical of the Great Lent 2016, with theme the biblical verse: “I was a stranger and you took me in” (Matthew 25:35) was read.
His Holiness delivered a sermon on the miracle of transforming water to wine in the wedding of Cana. He explained how this miracle is a sign of the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
His Holiness also announced the appointment of His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury as the Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus. He congratulated him and the faithful of the Archdiocese while he prayed for his success.
His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury thanked the Lord for his graces and His Holiness for his trust and for appointing him to this office. He promised to do his best and serve the Archdiocese with all his strength.
