His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II attended a gathering of the Sunday School Children from the Archdiocese of Baghdad and Basra, at St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral.
The children chanted hymns in Syriac and Arabic and presented a short theatrical performance based on Biblical characters.
His Holiness, in turn, spoke about the hope that the Church has in its children. He remembered the better times when the number of children was greater than now, but expressed his joy to see that, despite the current situation in Baghdad, there are so many children who participate in Sunday School.
At the end of the performance, His Holiness distributed clothes to the children who participate and congratulated them for their talents.
His Eminence Mor Severius Hawa, Archbishop of Baghdad and Basra, His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary, His Grace Mor Maurice Amsih, Director of Public Relations and Patriarchal Delegate in Al-Jazeerah and Euphrates, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director also attended this event.
