His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited Massara Primary and Secondary Schools in Baghdad on the occasion of Teachers Day. He was accompanied by their Eminences: Mor Severius Hawa, Archbishop of Baghdad and Basra, Mor Timotheos Moussa Al-Shamani, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mor Matta monastery, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary, His Grace Mor Maurice Amsih, Director of Public Relations and Patriarchal Delegate in Al-Jazeerah and Euphrates, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director. His Eminence Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul and Kurdistan, later joined the celebrations.
His Holiness inspected the facilities of both schools and met with the administrative bodies that take care of providing high quality education for the students enrolled in these schools.
His Holiness also prayed the service of the saints at Mor Severius the Antiochian Patriarch’s Church in the school compound.
He also inaugurated an exhibition of the students’ artistic productions on the occasion of Teachers Day.
The students of different ages and levels welcomed His Holiness with songs and hymns. Students from Al-Noor school joined them in presenting talent shows and songs in Syriac, Arabic and English.
At the end of the celebrations, His Holiness expressed his joy to see the success of our schools in Baghdad and blessed the teachers encouraging them to continue their sublime mission with devotion.
