His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received a delegation from Russia and from the “Aid to the Church in Need”, an international charity that is helping with some of the relief work done in Syria.
The delegation was accompanied by representatives from all the Churches in Damascus.
A one-day conference was organized to discuss the ways to provide help to the needy and displaced in Syria. An assessment of the loss of religious buildings as well as statistical data on the numbers of martyrs were presented during the conference.
The visit of the delegation to the Syrian Orthodox Patriarchate came at the end of the conference. The representatives thanked His Holiness for his support and expressed their readiness to provide help through the patriarchates and churches in Syria.
