His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo on the occasion of St. Georges Day at St. Georges Church in Zaydal.
The Holy Qurobo was attended by His Beatitude Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan, Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, accompanied by their Excellencies the Archbishops of the Syriac Catholic Church.
His Holiness was assisted by His Eminence Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, and His Grace Bishop Mor George Kourieh, Dean of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya.
In his sermon, His Holiness welcomed His Beatitude and the accompanying clergy. He also spoke about martyrdom and its importance in the history of Christianity. He recalled that martyrs sacrificed their lives for the sake of keeping the faith and proclaiming the Lord Jesus Christ as their saviour and God.
