Ordination of Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Homs Mor Theophilus Philip Barakat

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II attended the Episcopal Consecration of the new Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Nabak and Environs His Excellency Mor Theophilus Philip Barakat, at the Lady of Delivrance Church in Zaydal.
His Holiness was accompanied by His Eminence Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, His Grace Bishop Mor George Kourieh, Dean of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director. His Beatitude Greek Catholic Melkite Patriarch Gregorius III Lahham was also present as well as the Apostolic Nuncio in Syria Mgr. Mario Zenari, and representatives of the Christian churches in Homs.
His Beatitude Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan presided over the Holy Qurobo in which seven bishops participated in the ordination of Mgr. Philip Barakat as Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Nabak and Environs. The new Archbishop was given the fatherly name Theophilus.
In his sermon, the new Archbishop thanked His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II for attending the ceremony and delivered a spiritual sermon promising to serve the flock entrusted to him with all his capacities and asking the Lord to strengthen him in this new ministry.
