sygg2016-17

SYGG16 included many activities and events in its program.

In a special Q&A session, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received the questions of the youth participating in the SYGG16.
The session was organized to allow the youth to ask the questions that they have concerning the church as well as topics related to the church, its history, theology and other subjects.
His Holiness answered all the questions that were asked and emphasized that the youth keep the Church young and alive.

On the 3rd day of SYGG16, His Eminence Mor Polycarpus Augin Aydin, Patriarchal Vicar in the Netherlands, gave a lecture entitled: “I will be their God”. The lecture was followed by a personal testimony by Dn. Renju Kurian.

In the afternoon, Dr. Malko Dunya delivered a lecture on the Holy Spirit and the Pentecost entitled: “The Holy Spirit writes the Law in our hearts”.
The lecture was followed by a personal testimony of Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali on his monastic vocation.

Furthermore, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II gave a lecture entitled: “You shall be My people”.
In his lecture, His Holiness stressed on the biblical idea of a “chosen people, royal priesthood, and holy nation” explaining these three characteristics of the community of believers and how they are related to the covenant of the Lord Who promised salvation to humankind.

Following the different lectures and personal testimonies in SYGG16, the participants were assigned to various groups of discussions where they could share their thoughts and impressions on the topics discussed.
The main questions discussed were inspired by the themes of SYGG16 and the lectures delivered: “I will be their God” “The Holy Spirit writes the law in our hearts” and “You will be My people”.
At the end of SYGG16, the discussions groups shared their experiences and reflections on these themes.
