His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met His Excellency the President of Brazil Mr. Michel Temer at the Presidential Palace in Brazilia.
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences, Mor Titus Boulos Touza, Syriac Orthodox Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, and Mor Chrysostomos Youhanna Ghassaly, Patriarchal Vicar in Argentina, as well as Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, Very Rev. Fr. Paolo Milton.
His Excellency welcomed His Holiness and appreciated his positive role in advocating the cause of Christians in the Middle East and the peaceful resolution in Syria.
In turn, His Holiness thanked His Excellency for his warm welcome and expressed his appreciation for all that Brazil is doing to promote peace in the conflict-torn areas in Syria and the Middle East. He asked His Excellency to help in the case of the abducted Archbishops of Aleppo Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji.
