Upon the invitation of the Governor of Goias, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited the Governorate House of the state of Goias in Brazil.
His Excellency Mr. Jose Eliton, Vice-Governor of Goias received His Holiness in lieu of the Governor who had to be out of state for an emergency.
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Titus Boulos Touza, Syriac Orthodox Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Bishop Mor Faustino Jose Filio, Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, as well as the clergy of the Syriac Orthodox Churches in Goias.
His Excellency Dr. Ghassan Nseir, Syrian Ambassador in Brazil was also present in the reception. His Holiness thanked the Vice-Governor for the warm hospitality and the support of the state of Goias to our churches there.
In turn, His Excellency welcomed His Holiness and spoke about the history of the state of Goias.
His Excellency Ambassador Nseir spoke about the importance of the historical apostolic visit of His Holiness to Brazil, especially the good relations of the Syrian Orthodox Church and the immigrants and Syrian Community in Brazil.
