His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited Mor Mikhael Church in Goiania.
He was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Titus Boulos Touza, Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Mor Faustino Jose Filio, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
His Holiness hoisted the flags of Brazil and the state of Goias as well as the flag of the Syriac Orthodox Church, at the entrance of the church.
He then uncovered the plaque commemorating the visit and unveiled the Sayfo Commemoration monument.
After the prayer in the church, His Holiness greeted the clergy and faithful who are present and addressed them with a fatherly word. He emphasized the importance to keep the orthodox faith as well as the work of the missions in Brazil.
His Eminence Mor Titos Boulos Touza welcomed His Holiness and the accompanying delegation and spoke about the work of the Syriac Orthodox Missions in the Brazilian State of Goias as well as the social assistance offered by the parish in the neighborhood.
His Grace Mor Faustino Jose also welcomed His Holiness and spoke about the relations of the churches of the missions in Brazil to the Holy Throne of Antioch.
