His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited the Faculty of Piraconjuba in Goiania – Brazil.
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Titus Boulos Touza, Syriac Orthodox Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Bishop Mor Faustino Jose Filio, Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
His Holiness also inaugurated a Sayfo monument at the entrance of the Faculty.
After prayer in the faculty’s chapel, the President of the faculty, Very Rev. Fr. Paulo Milton, welcomed His Holiness and the accompanying delegation and expressed his joy to receive the blessings of His Holiness during his first apostolic visit to Brazil.
In his speech, His Holiness expressed his joy to see such an educational institution in Goiania and to see the care for higher education and culture amidst the people of our church.
His Holiness then attended a public event which included folklore music and poetry reading.
At the end of the ceremony, His Holiness was awarded the first honorary Doctorate given by the Faculty.
