His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met the Syriac Youth at St. Thomas Cathedral in London.
The meeting was attended by their Eminences Mor Athanasius Touma Dakkama, Patriarchal Vicar in the United Kingdom, Mor Severius Hawa. Archbishop of Baghdad and Basra, Mor Theophilus George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Very Rev. Raban Aphram Ozan.
His Holiness opened the meeting with prayer, and spoke about the different challenges of the Syriac Youth in the diaspora. He also spoke about the church’s care for the needs of the youth to have the liturgy and church prayers in the local language. He encouraged them to preserve the Syriac language by learning and using it. He also encouraged the youth to participate in the next Suryoyo Youth Global Gathering (SYGG) which will be held in Lebanon.
The Youth then discussed the main issues that they are facing in their daily life, especially in their service in the church.
His Holiness concluded the meeting with a prayer and blessing.
