His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited His Eminence Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich at his residence.
He was accompanied by His Eminence Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk and Kurdistan, Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Dr. Sharbil Gharib.
His Eminence expressed his joy to receive His Holiness and the accompanying delegation. He spoke about the concerns of the Church on the current situation in Syria and Iraq. He also said that the church prays for the persecuted Christians throughout the Middle East and will try their best to support them.
His Holiness thanked His Eminence for his support and discussed the situation of Christians in the Middle East. He shared his concerns for the future of the Christians in their homeland as well as the prospective measures that can be taken to strengthen the presence of Christians in the Middle East.
His Holiness and His Eminence prayed for peace in the Middle East in an ecumenical prayer at the chapel of His Eminence’s residence.
