Installation of Mor Maurice Amsih Archbishop of Jazera &Euphrates

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Georges Cathedral in Hassakah. He was assisted by their Eminences Mor Justinus Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, and Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs.
During the Holy Qurobo, His Holiness presided over the service of the Installation of His Eminence Mor Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Al-Jazeerah and Euphrates.
The service included a procession where two archbishops escorted the new Archbishop among the people. Then the sustatikon, or the commendation letter, was read proclaiming Mor Maurice Amsih to be the Archbishop of Al-Jazeerah and Euphrates.
In his sermon, commenting on the Gospel reading, His Holiness spoke about the role of the bishop leading his flock to a better life and to spiritual growth, as well as the importance of being united together in the words and deeds.
His Eminence Mor Maurice Amsih delivered a message where he thanked the Lord for this new flock entrusted to him and thanked His Holiness for appointing him in this new office. He asked the Lord to strengthen him in these difficult times.
