Meeting for the Synodal Committees

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurates the meetings of the General Secretariat of the Holy Synod, the Synodal Committee for the Constitution of the Syriac Orthodox Church and Parish Councils, and the Synodal Committee for Liturgy, at the Patriarchal Residence in Atchaneh.

The meeting was attended by their Eminences: Mor Timotheos Samuel Aktas, Metropolitan of Tur Abdin, Mor Philoxenus Yusuf Cetin, Patriarchal Vicar in Istanbul, Mor Dionysius Issa Gurbuz, Patriarchal Vicar in Switzerland and Austria, Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Mor Titos Yeldo, Archbishop of the Malankara Archdiocese of Northern America, Mor Nicolaos Matta Abdelahad, Patriarchal Vicar in Spain, Mor Justinus Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis, Patriarchal Vicar in Germany, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs, and Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Al-Jazeerah and Euphrates.

His Holiness started the meeting with prayer and asked the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the success of the committees’ work. He then gave his instruction to the two committees, who will have several separate meetings, wishing them productive and fruitful meetings for the benefit of the Holy Church.

During the meeting, His Holiness and their Eminences discussed the importance of reviewing the constitution of the church and applying on it suitable modifications when needed, so that it meets the church daily development. Moreover, they talked about the significance of a liturgical reformation, and preparing the corresponding researches and drafts to be presented to the Holy Synod.
