Feast of the Pentecost – Holy Qurobo

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo on the occasion of the Feast of the Pentecost, at St. Georges Patriarchal Cathedral in Bab Touma, Damascus. His Holiness was assisted by His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the Feast of the Pentecost, which is the dwelling of the Holy Spirit in the disciples who were gathered in Jerusalem. This happened at the same time when many peoples from all nations were in Jerusalem for the Feast of the Fifty days; they spoke the language of all the nations of that time. His Holiness added that the Holy Spirit is the Consoler of the apostles who took courage and were not afraid to proclaim the gospel anymore. The Lord Jesus Christ promised them to send them the Holy Spirit to remind them of His teachings. His Holiness pointed out that the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ did not end on the cross or the resurrection of even at the Ascension; rather, it continued through the Holy Spirit Who strengthens the faithful. He spoke about the action of the Holy Spirit Who renders water into a spiritual mother and makes bread and wine into the body and blood of our Lord. The Holy Spirit guides the Church and inspires the Fathers to organize the life of the church in what fits the era without losing the essence of the teachings which we inherited from the Holy Apostles.
