On Sunday September 9th 2018, upon the invitation of the Lady of Elij, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II attended the Holy Qurobo celebrated by His Beatitude and Eminence Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, at the Patriarchal Residence in Sayydit Elij, Batroun, North Lebanon.The Qurobo was offered under the title: “Persecution.. or famine.. or sword?”, in commemoration of the martyrs of persecutions and genocides of the last century, including the Syriac martyrs of Sayfo.
Representatives of the various churches which suffered persecution, as well as a number of political and public figures, and members of martyrs’ families, were also present.
After the Qurobo, His Beatitude Cardinal Rai presented His Holiness an honor shield on behalf of the league.
At the end, His Beatitude and His Holiness inaugurated a monument for the martyrs on the occasion.
