Prayer at Buenos Aires Cathedral and Meeting with Cardinal Poli

On June 14, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presided over and ecumenical prayer at Buenos Aires Catholic Cathedral in Argentina.
 
He was received in the Cathedral by His Eminence Cardinal Mario Aurelio Poli, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, and a crowd of clergy and faithful.
 
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences: Mor Chrysostomos Youhanna Ghassaly, Patriarchal Vicar in Argentina, Mor Severius Malke Mourad, Patriarchal Vicar in Brazil, Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Chamoun, Patriarchal Vicar and Director of the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, Mor Titus Boulos Touza, Apostolic Nuncio to the Syriac Evangelical Mission Churches in Brazil, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
 
His Holiness and all who were present prayed for peace in the world, and for all persecuted Christians, as well as for the safe return of the two abducted Archbishops of Aleppo Boulos Yaziji and Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim.
 
After reading a passage from the Bible in Syriac, His Holiness delivered a short spiritual message in which he emphasized the importance of promoting and reaching peace all over the world. He also spoke about his fraternal relation with His Holiness Pope Francis of Rome, who was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires. He asked for the prayer of all for the persecuted brethren and for the return of the two abducted archbishops.
 
After the prayer, His Holiness met with His Eminence the Cardinal. He presented to him a wooden cross which has Sayfo icon in its middle.
