On June 18, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited the municipality of Cordoba.

His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences: Mor Chrysostomos Youhanna Ghassaly, Patriarchal Vicar in Argentina, Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun, Patriarchal Vicar and Director of the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director. He met with members of the municipal council in the presence of the Consul of Syria in Cordoba Mr. Abdallah Saddi.

His Holiness expressed his joy to visit the city of Cordoba to which many of the members of the Syriac Orthodox Church came at the turn of the twentieth century. He thanked the council for what the city had offered to our people, helping them to preserve their heritage and traditions. He then spoke about the situation of Christians in the Middle East, especially in Iraq and Syria and the heavy migration of Christians due to the crisis.

His Holiness reminded that over 6 years passed over the abduction of the two Archbishops of Aleppo Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji and asked all to pray for their safe return to their dioceses.
