On July 6, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at Mor Jacob of Serugh Monastery in Warburg, on the occasion of the Family Festival celebrated by the Patriarchal Vicariate of Germany. He was assisted by their Eminences: Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis, Patriarchal Vicar in Germany, Mor Justinus Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Julius Hanna Aydin, Director of External Relations in Germany, Mor Polycarpus Augin Aydin, Patriarchal Vicar in Holland, and Mor Georges Kourieh, Patriarchal Vicar of Belgium, France and Luxemburg, in the presence of the priests from Germany, and a crowd of Syriac families and faithful.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the Lord’s selecting the apostles and preachers and commissioning them two by two to preach repentance and that the Kingdom of heaven is near. He pointed out that it is necessary to have faith in order to be able to do great deeds and perform miracles and healings. He also spoke about the Lord’s words: no prophet is without dignity except in his country and among his relatives, emphasizing the importance of encouraging and supporting all those who serve and preach the word of life to others, and not mocking or despising them. He said that preachers should be accepted joyfully. His Holiness reminded that each one is responsible for the salvation of all through preaching to all.
During the Holy Qurobo, His Holiness inaugurated the new bells of the Monastery.
The Family Festival took place throughout the entire day where lectures were delivered to the families which were present. They emphasized the role of the families in helping individuals learn about the identity, customs and church teachings and traditions.
