Meeting with Families Participating in SYCE – Maarat Saydnaya

On July 20, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met with the families participating in the second Suryoyo Young Couples Encounter (SYCE) taking place at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya – Syria.

The encounter is organized under the supervision of His Eminence Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth affairs and Christian Education. Seven Couples from each of the Syriac Orthodox Archdioceses in Syria, along with their children joined SYCE to share experiences about their marriages, listen to various spiritual lectures that benefit their marriage lives, and take part in the various workshops organized for this purpose.

His Holiness encouraged the couples to pray together, and ask the Lord to be among them and unite them. He spoke about the challenges that face our families, especially during the difficult times in Syria. He instructed them to raise their children to love the Lord Jesus and the Holy Church. His Holiness answered their questions, and blessed them and their children.

Their Eminences Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, and Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub were also present.
