On September 23, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received a delegation of Italian parliamentarians headed by MP Paolo Romani at the Patriarchate Headquarters in Bab Touma – Damascus.
During the meeting, His Holiness welcomed the delegation and appreciated their positive attitude and support of the Syrian people who is winning the fight against terrorism and conspiracy. He emphasized the importance of this visit to observe the reality and learn firsthand what is happening in Syria and not from the western media which is often biased and not revealing the complete truth.
In turn, Mr. Romani expressed their joy to visit different cities and regions in Syria to transmit to their governments the truth of what is happening in Syria. He also spoke about their efforts to find a solution to the crisis, especially to the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
The meeting was attended by their Eminences: Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Religious Education, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
